7 Quick Takes, Take 4
I took a few weeks off from these, but I’ve been guilted back into action this week by the unstoppable force over at Conversion Diary.

It’s cold outside. Very cold. But that’s the way it ought to be in January, so I’m not complaining! This is the best winter we’ve had in many a year, so far, despite the Ithaca Bubble having minimized the snowfall. So far.

Some people like to buy trendy gadgets or expensive technology to show off, or so I’m told. I, on the other hand, tend to feel immense guilt if I make a significant purchase that I don’t absolutely need. The level of guilt is directly proportional to the cost of the item. I’m usually not stricken with buyer’s remorse, though; it’s all anticipatory. It happened big-time this week (ooh, mysterious).

The big project at work that’s been taking up the majority of my time for the past year and a half is finally almost finished! I’m not quite sure what I’ll do with myself once it’s done. You can see the fruits of my (and a dozen other people’s) labor in the form of the new CU Library website.

I didn’t like eating peas as a child and generally avoided them, but I made a deliberate decision to alter that policy when I entered college. Strangely, I figured that it would be impossible to survive in the larger world without them.

The only food I’ve tried that I simply can’t eat in its native form is the beloved banana. I can’t stand the smell, taste, or texture of them. Last time I tried to eat one, I ended up gagging. Banana that’s been adulterated, diluted, or otherwise neutralized is tolerable: banana chips are okay, for example, and I have a standing truce with banana bread (which is all too easy to mistake for various edible breads).

No one has ever guessed where I was born and raised on the basis of my accent.

I did make a few New Year resolutions this time around, but they’re secret — top secret. I’ll never tell!
